'Icon of the Seas' set to sail in Jan 2024
Icon of the Seas, which is being completed at the Turku shipyard, will set off on its maiden voyage on January 27, 2024, announced by Meyer Turku Shipyard.
Icon's home port will be located in Miami, from where it will cruise to the Caribbean Sea. During the seven-day cruises, Icon of the Seas will stop at places such as Cozumel in Mexico and the island of Roatan off the coast of Honduras.
When completed, Icon of the Seas will be Royal Caribbean's first Icon-class ship and the first ship to use liquefied natural gas (LNG) in Royal Caribbean's fleet. The ship is 365 meters long, almost 50 meters wide and approximately 250,000 gross tons. Icon of the Seas is the first ship in the Icon series, which in the Meyer Turku shipyard's order book so far has the size of three ships. It is world's largest and the most environmentally friendly cruise ship of Royal Caribbean's fleet.
Icon will include 8 distinct neighborhoods, which will offer various different activities and atmospheres whether to have some fun or take a break and relax. Icon of the Seas will include 5 brand new neighborhoods never before seen on Royal Caribbean's ships: AquaDome, Thrill Island, Chill Island, Surfside and The Hideaway.
